Mommy & Colin date night

I decided to be less selfish and take a few of my Friday night babysitting swap nights to do some one on one time with the boys. Welllll...except for Seamus. I figure he gets one on one time with his other parent every Monday while I'm at work and the older boys are at school. And he doesn't really know any better yet. Yeah, yeah...crap parent I am.

Tonight was the kick-off and we decided Colin gets the first night. I let him pick what to do and bowling was his top choice. But before we went there, I decided we'd use up a 3 year old gift certificatehave some fun at Build-a-Bear! That didn't take up a whole lot of time, as Cols marched in, found the bear (koala) he wanted and a Red Sox outfit and that was that. We embedded a chip in the thing so it plays "take me out to the ballgame" and made it a birth certificate so we know his name is Charlie.

From there, we went to Target so Colin could pick out snacks for his soccer team...since as you might remember, I forgot them a few weeks ago so tomorrow is my "make good" day. Yeah, ok...really we went to Target because I needed hair products. But I used the snack selection to get him to go there with me. Hey, we visited the toy section too so he was happy. As was I. I love Target.

Then we headed for what Cols really wanted to do: bowling. We got our shoes (ick...size 12 and size 6, respectively...with me wearing some new socks I picked up at Target when I realized our next destination and my lack of protection) and headed to the "glow" lanes. I'd like to say I blew him away...but really, I won by 3. Although I faked the score to show a tie.

But what could have been one of Colin's happiest moments was when I made the rare decision to give him quarters to play a video game. Star Wars, naturally.

We went home from there and spent an hour playing games before we had to pick up the other boys at the neighbors. All in all, we had a really nice night. Except he told me it couldn't really be a date because his wife Ellie wouldn't like that. Damn.

Can I be Colin's second wife? I think he's so darn cute! Glad you guys had a nice one-on-one night. We do that too, and it's always fun.

Who's visiting?
