One of my life goals is to master the perfect chocolate chip cookie. I've read articles, I've tried a number of recipes in the past, and yet still never seem to get it quite right. Not having a KitchenAid mixer isn't helping me. I *will* get one soon.
I recently bought Martha Stewarts Cookies book and there are 3 different chocolate chip cookie recipes in there. Colin picked one to try tonight: Thin & Crisp Chocolate Chip Cookies. They came out ok. (I think I'll go have another one in a minute to see if they're better when totally cooled. Great excuse, no?)
I'm going to try Alexis Stewart's Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe next. But I'm taking other suggestions if you've got them!

Ooh! I have two. My favorite is from Cook's Illustrated, and the best thing is that the butter is MELTED, so it TOTALLY doesn't matter if you don't have a Kitchen Aid! I will email it to you if you'd like, or post it on my blog. Probably too much to post it here. Anyway, they are GREAT - tasty, the right amount chewy and crunchy, easy, delicious!
The other is a new favorite, but it requires some funky ingredients. I reviewed it on my blog - called something like Grown Up Chocolate Chip Cookies. Very tasty, but probably not the best "hey, I need choc chip cookies in 5 minutes - let's bake some now" recipe.
